Derek Schrier is the founder and chief investment officer of Indaba Capital Management, LP. He previously worked at Farallon Capital Management and at Goldman, Sachs & Co. Derek managed the elections research and polling for the African National Congress’s political campaign during South Africa’s first-ever democratic and non-racial elections in 1994. He has an A.B. from Princeton University and a J.D. and M.B.A. from Stanford University.

Derek is Chair of the Advisory Board for the Boston Review, an independent political and literary forum. He is also on the Board of Outer Coast, a nascent higher education institution in Alaska that focuses on academics, community service, and self-governance. Derek is an emeritus board member of Matriculate, a non-profit organization that expands college access for high-achieving high school students. He chaired the Board of the African Leadership Foundation and was a trustee of the African Leadership Academy. Derek has also served as a board member of Princeton in Africa and the Center for Effective Global Action at the University of California, Berkeley.
