Outer Coast Year 2020-21 student Amadea made a thrift shelf for students to exchange items.

“I wanted to get a thrift shelf put on campus at my college last year. The idea was that students could leave what they didn’t want, and others could pick up what they wanted. Super simple — it only takes the space of a shelf, provides free items to students, and encourages sustainability. In my mind, there were literally no downsides to the project. But it took me countless hours and meetings with administrators to have even the smallest idea of how getting the shelf on campus would work, with a lot of hesitancy from administration. This year, at Outer Coast, it took me ten minutes, one SB meeting, and a free shelf on Sitka for Sale to make it happen.”
