There’s always plenty of trail maintenance to be done in Sitka!

Several past cohorts of Outer Coast students have built and maintained trail with organizations such as Sitka Trail Works and the US Forest Service. At the 2020-2021 Year, students worked on single track mountain bike paths off of the Sitka Cross Trail, and 2021 Summer Seminar students spent two weeks of early mornings atop Harbor Mountain removing old wooden planks and hauling gravel along the Harbor Mountain Trail.

“The trails we build in Sitka will be prioritized by the master plan that [Outer Coast volunteers] create. They are bringing a serious enthusiasm and desire to learn, and have put so much effort into something that everyone is going to benefit from, which is really special.”
